Learning Co-ordinator

Temp to perm role – Learning Co-ordinator – £18,419 to £28,735 DOE

We are working with a Special School who are seeking a highly skilled and motivated On With Learning Mentor, with experience in SEMH/SEN, to join their high-quality school. Under the direction of SLT, the On With Learning (OWL) Coordinator will work as part of the pastoral team, supporting pupils who need additional interventions to enable them to fully access the main on-site curriculum offer, and whole class teaching.

Specifically, you will promote pupil’s independence, self-esteem, and social inclusion, so that their path to re-engagement with learning – be that in school or in their posy-16 destination. You will play a key role in the whole school careers and work-related learning programme, acting as the key link person for colleges, work experience places and other external providers to ensure that the school maintains its current excellent compliance with Gatsby Benchmarks.

 

The main objectives for this role are:

 

Pupil Engagement

Work with pupils, either in small groups or on a one-to-one basis, to encourage then to maximise their potential through strategies and programmes that have a physically active and/or vocational focus

Draw up action plans for the re-engagement of pupils with poor attendance or returning from a period of remote learning (for whatever reason), setting regular targets and actions, monitoring the outcomes and thereby evaluating progress towards set targets and a more positive approach to learning

Attend parental and re-integration meetings as required by the AHT Pastoral

Undertake home visits as required

Supervise pupils undertaking structured repair and reflect activities as instructed by AHT Pastoral

Develop an in-house forest school programme for pupils in KS 2 – 4

Establish and develop links with external organisation and other specialist provisions to access outdoor learning opportunities for our pupils

 

Careers and future steps

Work with the Pastoral-coordinator to instruct forms in how to evidence for the Gatsby Benchmarks

Establish and develop links with further education colleges, apprenticeship providers, university technical colleges and universities

Organise college and other vocational day release placements (e.g. work experience) for identified pupils who have individual timetables

Distribution of careers and labour market information

Feed into the vocational learning/ careers section of the school’s website, ensuring information is accurate and up to date

Refer pupils to our link careers adviser and work with them to complete applications to their post 16 destination.

Holds a Level 3 qualification in a topic relevant to the role and has previous experience of working with children and young people in an educational setting.

Demonstrates flexibility, personal resilience and lives out those personal qualities we wish to instil in our young people in all that they do.
